Welcome to ArtsIT 2014, the fourth International Conference on Arts and Technology, that will be held in Istanbul, Turkey in the Fall of 2014. The ArtsIT series of conferences have been created to provide a platform where researchers and practitioners in the arts and humanities, who have a keen interest in contemporary IT developments, meet with individuals working in the fields of computational technologies and IT who, in their turn, profess to strong ties to the fine arts and the design disciplines in their output.

Since its inception in 2009, ArtsIT has become a leading scientific forum for the dissemination of cutting-edge research results in the area of arts, design and technology. At the ArtsIT 2014 conference we hope to bring together leading researchers and practitioners from the creative fields, academia and industry to present their innovative work and discuss all aspects and challenges in a stimulating environment that will be sponsored by Sabancı University in Istanbul, Turkey. The event aims to foster trans-disciplinary alliances and co-operation between researchers of IT technologies, artists, designers and industry members and to offer content creators novel tools that expand the means of expression of the traditional art/design fields.

The conference presents a valuable opportunity for researchers, artists, designers and industry members both to showcase new, cutting-edge ideas and creative output that will help shape the future of art and technology, as well as to gain insights into novel innovative technologies and trans-disciplinary activities that are making strong impacts both on the world of the arts and on society at large.

The ArtsIT 2014 conference will also be benefiting from a unique partnership with the acclaimed Amber Electronic Arts Festival and Conference that has been held every Fall in Istanbul since 2007. Over the past 7 years the festival has hosted many internationally significant new media artists who have shown artwork and have given talks that have been themed under concepts such as "Voice and Survival," "Interpassive Persona," "Un-cyborgable?" and "DataCity" in past years. The aim of the current collaboration between the ArtsIT 2014 conference and the Amber Electronic Arts Festival/Conference is providing points of convergences (through joint conference sessions, meetings and the like) which will help foster communications between the attendees of the two events, leading to novel collaborations that may bring about original trans-disciplinary projects.

Beyond the unique opportunity that Istanbul offers for a partnership between the ArtsIT conference and a well regarded international electronic arts festival/conference that is indigenous to this location; Istanbul is a unique city in its own right, residing at the intersection of continents, and cultures. In recent years the city has shown remarkable aptitude in translating its historic richness and its diversity into a dynamic hub of contemporary artistic and cultural activity of international standards. Thus, in Fall 2014, we hope to welcome you in Istanbul – a city of diversity, culture, art, learning and entertainment. Please find out more about our city by navigating to this page.
